Only 15 seats

Working in a small group allows for greater depth, quality, and meaningful exchange.

The Challenge

Working in complex environments requires more than method — it requires situational awareness, clarity of purpose, and the ability to make decisions in contexts where there are no ready-made answers.

What We Will Do Together

Through the study of real cases, we will advance the design and implementation of interventions in high-complexity settings — where no pre-established maps exist.

We will begin with reflection on concrete situations, collectively building clarity to structure processes, sustain difficult dialogues, and develop viable paths in uncertain environments.

Continuity and Deepening

This training expands and deepens the conceptual framework developed in the 1st edition. Participants from the previous edition will engage with new cases, new perspectives, and new intervention challenges.

International Context

Open to participants from different countries, the training will include simultaneous interpretation (Portuguese / English), creating a space for shared learning and collective wisdom-building across borders.

Requirements

- Certified Training as a Peacemaking Circle Keeper for more complex situations

- Practical experience facilitating Circles in contexts of conflict, violence or trauma

Method

An experiential training delivered in a Circle format, alternating with moments of instructor input, case studies, small group discussions (breakout rooms), and pauses for reflective writing (journaling).

Certification

21-hour certification, with a minimum of 75% attendance required.

Meet the Instructors

Kay Pranis (USA) is the world’s leading reference in Circle Processes and a global influence in the field of Restorative Justice.

Since the 1990s, she has worked in the development, teaching, and application of Circles in contexts including criminal justice, schools, communities, families, organizations, universities, and public policy.

She served as Restorative Justice Planner for the Minnesota Department of Corrections in the United States and is the author and co-author of foundational works on Circle Processes, including Peacemaking Circles, The Little Book of Circle Processes, and Circle Forward.

Her work has influenced restorative practices in many countries and remains one of the most important foundations for those seeking to work with depth, responsibility, and respect in contexts involving harm, care, and accountability.

Samuel Johann (Brazil) is a trainer of trainers in Circle Processes under direct mentorship of Kay Pranis.

For over 11 years, he has worked in contexts of crisis, war, and disaster across 15 countries, leading negotiations, multicultural teams, and programs in highly complex and volatile environments. His experience includes engagement with armed groups and governments, leadership of multinational teams, and the management of humanitarian and institutional responses in critical settings.

In Brazil, he supports leaders, institutions, and communities in facilitating dialogues and designing interventions focused on collective care, conflict transformation, and the navigation of complex contexts, including situations of violence and disaster.

He specializes in Peace Studies and Conflict Transformation, Emotional Management in Organizations, and holds an international accreditation as a Leadership Mentor, integrating dialogue, strategy, and care in contexts of high human and institutional complexity.
